yesterday to actually win his game. now, what impressed so many redskins fans is rg3's poison and off the football field. our own dan hellie was in new orleans for the game and caught up with the rookie star. >> reporter: it really was a masterful performance by the redskins here in new orleans last night. the defense delivered against drew brees, and robert griffin iii walked on water. well, not quite, but he did do everything else. a couple of touchdown passes and 320 yards in his nfl debut. he's also the first rookie qb to lead his offense to 40 points since 1950. you seem so comfortable out there, so poised. that's what all the other guys are talking about. was there a welcome to the nfl moment? were there butterflies? >> there were butterflies. the one thing i tried to make sure i did this week was keep my mind clear, know what i had to go out and do, and be myself. have fun, don't stress about it, don't try to prove anything to anyone. i leaned on the other guys this week, especially in this game, to do their jobs and make sure they're where they're supposed to be, and everyone

late last night right around midnight. and n.f.l. 's commissioner roger goodell released a statement shortly afterwards that says this agreement supports long-term reforms that will make officiating player. the teams, players and fans deserve consistency and quality in officiating. we look forward to having the finest officials in sports back on the field and i want to give a special thanks to the n.f.l. fans for their passion. now it's time to put the focus back on the teams and players where it belongs. now this statement, this agreement comes after two full days of face-to-face talks thanks to that terrible call during monday night football. that got the two sides back to the negotiating table. and just hours before an agreement was reached, terry mccauley, a real n.f.l. referee said this on our newscast about one of the big sticking points in the negotiations: pengs. >> yes, the economy has changed. things have changed but very to remember one thing. the n.f.l. is not like caterpillar. they're a virtual monopoly with an antitrust exemption and making record profits. so contributi

about flooding. just at every time we get a downpour news4's megan mcgrath is live in the bloomingdale section of d.c. where it has happened again. >> reporter: actually, right now things are looking pretty good. this is rhode island avenue behind me here at first street. you can see that everything is dry right now. but this has become a real trouble spot. folks in this area has seen flooding four times in the last several weeks including yesterday. take a look at this video. this was shot during the height of the flooding after they saw the torrential downpour 'they actually had to rescue one man who got swept up in the flood waters. they used an inflatable boat to get to him. there were a number of cars that stalled out and got stuck in the flood waters. as i said, this isn't the first time it's happened. they've had four different instances in the last just several weeks where they've had flooding this this area. there are folks who lived here who had their basements flooded. they had to throw things away. they had to pull out all of the furniture and carpets and dry them out again
